Landscape changes due to suburbanization - an example of south-eastern outskirts of Prague
Paločková, Anežka ; Romportl, Dušan (advisor) ; Chuman, Tomáš (referee)
The study deals with the evaluation of landscape changes and ecosystem functions in the case study situated in the hintreland of Prague with the emphasis on the process of suburbanization. It analyzes the amounts, the range and the types of the changes of landscape due to suburbanization process and their effects on landscape structure and function. Landscape changes are evaluated using remote sensing and software ArcGIS, function and services of ecosystems are evaluated by modified Hessen method. Powered by TCPDF (www.tcpdf.org)
Use of model ecosystems near Chomutov in basic education
Řeháková, Tereza ; Havlová, Michaela (advisor) ; Drda Morávková, Alena (referee)
This paper focuses on the teaching of eco-tour by cyclo around Chomutov in basic education. The main objective of my DP is a cycling tour with a focus on the comparison of selected characteristics of ecosystems occurring in the area. As I chose the selected ecosystems - meadows and pastures, forests and water bodies. Selected location near Chomutov offers direct observation of these ecosystems provide a number of paths for nontraditional ways of teaching, using bicycle wheels. Developed materials include design incentive hours for after-school teaching materials in the field and the draft final hours. For after-school education in the field are handled by individual worksheets ecosystems - meadows and pastures, forests and water bodies. Besides these main worksheets, I created a set of other activities in the outdoors. They are practicing first aid package of games and competitions designed for environments and other attractions that can fill the time spent in nature. Next, I created a complete methodological guide for teachers, which are summarized in detail all the information for planning, progress and completion of the excursion. Excursions and its content complies with the current general education program for primary education in the country. Keywords: tour, cycling tours, ecosystems, Chomutov
Sustainable Development in Canada in Relation to Oil Sands Developments
Podhola, Adam ; Fiřtová, Magdalena (advisor) ; Anděl, Petr (referee)
The aim of this thesis is to evaluate to what extent Canada and Alberta have been fulfilling the principles of sustainable development as they have adopted in the 1990s from the essential U.N. documents - the Brundtland Report and the Rio Declaration- and to what extent both governments failed in providing and enforcing efficient environmental law protection as it is the basic premise for achieving sustainability. I assessed this level of sustainability in Canada and Alberta on the basis of a stronger and weaker sustainability theoretical framework. Author's presumption was that Canada, as it defined sustainable development in its legislation, acted according to stronger sustainability, which emphasizes stronger protective environmental measures. Given a very large scope of environmental impacts of oil extraction on different ecosystems, the sector of water resources was selected to serve as a case study to compare and analyze government and alternative reports assessing the sustainability of water management. Thus, the author follows how the oil industry in Alberta affects the water resources and how both governments of Canada and Alberta provide environmental protection to the water resources. In this respect the author illustrates how the government is reluctant towards the implementation of...
Změny taxocenóz modelové skupiny hmyzu v lesních ekosystémech v oblasti Žďárských vrchů
Hartman, Tomáš
In 2015 was realized the picking of insect group Psocoptera in the research localities of CHKO Žďárské hills. The main purpose was determination of influence of the vegetative steps and changes in the taxocenoses of Psocoptera. The most frequent species were Caecilius burmeisteri a Stenopsocus lachlani. Total number of species were 2199 from 19 places. There were caught 27 species from 100 species in the Czech Republic. Dominant representation refers to majority occurrence of spruce in Žďárské hills. All research localities belong to the 5. vegetative degree.
The role of winter chemical maintenance of roads on ecosystems
Zývalová, Jana ; Mihaljevič, Martin (advisor) ; Galušková, Ivana (referee)
The annual use of de-icing salts leads to a continuous increase of Cl- and Na+ concentration in the surroundings of treated roads. It particularly affects soil and water environment and vegetation. The Na+ are accumulated in soils, they are bound into the cation exchange complex (CEC). It leads to the displacement of other cations (Ca2+ , Mg2+ , K+ , NH4 + , etc.), which are washing out from soils. The excessive amount of Na+ disturbs the soil structure and leads to a soil particles dispersion. Thus, the mobilisation of heavy metals (Cd, Zn, Pb, etc.) can occur. Increase of pH and electrical conductivity (EC) has an effect on the overall chemistry of the soil. Cl- are more mobile than Na+ in the soil column and they are flushed into water, where they altogether contribute to an increase of total dissolved solids and they cause acute and chronic contamination. The vitality of aquatic communities is influenced by the long-term exposure to the stress conditions. Finally, a shift from alkali to halophytic communities can occur. A slowdown, even stoppage of water layers mixing can be observed in water reservoirs. Biogeochemistry of water sediments is changed due to the anoxia of the benthic waters. Vegetation in the surroundings of treated roads shows visible symptoms of damage. The coniferous trees are...

Commented translation: Petit atlas des especes menacées (Yves Sciama, Petite encyclopédie Larousse, Paris 2003, str. 96-119)
Sýkorová, Eliška ; Belisová, Šárka (advisor) ; Šotolová, Jovanka (referee)
This translation bachelor thesis consists of a practical and a theoretical part. The practical part is the translation of a chosen chapter from the book Petit Atlas des Espces Menacées, written by a French biologist and publicist Yves Sciama. The theoretical one is a commentary on the translation which engages in analysis of the original text - it studies the character of the author, the intended reader, the edition in which the book was released, etc. Next the commentary describes the typology of translational problems on the lexical, syntactic, stylistic, grammatical, and text level. It is followed by a discussion over the method of translation and characteristics of the used translational techniques (transposition, modulation, concentration) supported by concrete examples. It is concluded by a description of graphical design of the text.
